Birds chirp, whistle and twitter

Honeysuckle scent rides the gentle breeze

Lightening bugs flicker their messages

with green, ghostly lights

Frogs cheer the coming of night

Honeysuckle odour infuses the air

Crickets laugh in anticipation

with quick, spiny legs

The sun slides quietly downward

An orange blaze swaths the horizon

and tickles the underbelly

of cottonball clouds

A brook gurgles through the eternal path

A sweet, strong smell permeates all

Insects buzz and flit frantically

searching for food

A sudden, sharp sting on the arm

arouses an instinctive slap

leaving a thin, red line of death

Damn mosquitoes.

Speak to me.

Tell me what you think of my work.
